Country superstar Garth Brooks, 51, now has a new friend in one of those "low places" — a crib! Earlier this week, his daughter August gave birth to Garth's first grandchild, a little girl named Karalynn.
In a statement (via People), Garth thanked everyone "for their warm wishes and sweet celebration of Baby K's arrival."
Garth has three daughters from his first marriage to Sandy Mahl: Taylor (born in 1992), August (born 1994) and Allie (born 1996). He's now married to fellow country star Trisha Yearwood. According to People, Garth is considering a full-time return to recording and performing when his youngest, Allie, graduates from high school next year.
Garth further added in his statement, "Our children's lives have always been extremely private and they have been endlessly encouraged to be their own people. We have always wanted them to be individuals and not be known as 'someone's daughters.' I have been amazed and grateful how the press has always respected this. I now ask that respect to please continue as this young family begins the greatest days of their lives."
In other words, he was hoping to avoid comments like the many under People's story — with some tsk-tsk-ing his (reportedly unmarried) daughter for having a baby at 19, and others defending the family and saying it's none of anyone's business. Can’t we all just get along?
