Nashville Season 2 begins on September 25 at 10 p.m. ET, but thanks to the folks over at ABC, we already know when the show will be taking its dreaded and often lengthy winter hiatus. The network is going ahead with plans to have split-seasons for many of its dramas, and Nashville is no exception.

ABC president Paul Lee unveiled the split-season plan at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, and the folks over at TVLine have all the details. After the September 25 premiere, the show will air several new episodes with only limited repeats and preemption and will likely continue through at least early December (or possibly later), at which point the winter hiatus will begin.

Nashville will return from its winter hiatus on February 26, 2014 and again will air new episodes with limited repeats and preemption until the Season 2 finale next spring.

What do you think of this split-season plan? Is the winter hiatus too long or just right? Tell us your thoughts and opinions below!
