After an epic storyline during Season 1 of Nashville, we’ve been pretty disappointed in the lack of screentime between Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten) so far on Season 2. We understand that the dramatic car crash has created quite a bit of tension between the two former lovebirds, but is there hope?

While they’ve had time to collect themselves during their time apart, that healing process is going to go out the window now that Rayna is Scarlett O’Connor’s (Clare Bowen) boss. According to TVLine, things between Rayna and Deacon are going to get pretty tense now that his niece is being bossed around by his former love.

“She’s my niece, she’s [Rayna's] protégé, so we’re fighting over her almost as a proxy of how it might be to battle [over Maddie],” Charles tells the news site. “And in a real sense, we’re both right.” They’re definitely both right, especially with the sly Jeff Fordham (Oliver Hudson) breathing down Rayna (and Scarlett’s neck).

Dang, it sounds like it’s going to take a while for Rayna and her new (and only) Highway 65 artist to find the right working relationship. With Deacon thinking the tour is a bit too much for the soft-spoken singer, Rayna is doing everything she can to make her label a legitimate force to be reckoned with.
