Wowza! Let’s talk about that Nashville mid-season finale. Just when we thought everything was going all hunky-dory for our favorite characters, disaster struck in the last five minutes. Not only did we gasp once, we gasped twice in this jaw-dropping episode. But which of your favorite Music City residents might be goners? Proceed with caution.

Seriously, if you haven’t seen tonight’s episode and don’t want to be spoiled, turn around right now! Scoot. Scram. Skidaddle! If you are up-to-date on your TV watching, go right ahead!

OK, so now you know that Will Lexington (Chris Carmack) is standing in the way of a speeding train and Peggy Kenter (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) is lying on the ground after being attacked by the same man who tried to kill Teddy Conrad (Eric Close). We must say that we were totally thrown by a loop in this episode, but we have a sneaking suspicion that Will’s fate isn’t death. Will seems to be the bait-and-switch that got people thinking he was going to die that way the a second death (enter, Peggy) would be a double whammy.

We’ve already outlined why we think Will should continue to live on the ABC drama, but unless he sidesteps that oncoming train, he’s a goner. Peggy’s death, on the other hand, seems like a good, slightly less dramatic way to keep the show moving forward (we don’t want another car crash on our hands).

The sad news is that either way, we’re going to have to wait until the spring to see how the fates of these characters play out.
