The time has come, Nashville fans. It’s time to say goodbye to Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) for a few weeks while the sophomore series heads into its winter hiatus. Sure, we’ll miss the down-home drama for a few weeks, but we know that when it comes back, the bright lights of the stage are going to warm our hearts. So when does the ABC series return?

After tonight’s (December 11) mid-season finale — which gives us a HUGE cliffhanger to ponder while spending the holidays with our families wishing we could just be watching all-new episodes of our favorite shows — we’re going to be on hold for a few weeks. There isn’t official word from ABC as to when exactly Nashville will be returning to our televisions, but we’d expect it to be sometime around March.

Nashville’s fellow Wednesday night shows — The Middle and Modern Family — don’t have a set date for new episodes in 2014 yet either, though we know they’ll be coming back. Super Fun Night, on the other hand, will be back with all-new episodes on January 8. We don’t think Nashville will follow that lead, so we expect it to return in March just like other dramas, like Once Upon a Time, which returns on March 9.
