Clare Bowen’s Nashville character, Scarlett O’Connor, hasn’t had the best luck with love this season. Boyfriend Avery (Jonathan Jackson) showed his mean, jealous streak to be longer than the Mississippi and the two broke things off early on in our life with them when Ave got the hint that Scarlett might just make it big before him.

In real life, Clare knows exactly what Scarlett’s going through. Right after she was cast on the show, the Aussie actress found herself on the wrong end of the dumping stick. “I got told to f- - k myself because I got Nashville,” Clare tells the New York Post. “Someone that I loved. And I’m sure he’s happy somewhere. So Scarlett and I are discovering ourselves at the same time.”

But don’t think that she’s just moving on to some hot songwriting partner (ahem, Gunnar). Clare has a ton on her plate right now with her new-found fame, recording an album with Nashville music director T-Bone Burnett, and getting acclimated to her new life. “I’ve made some very nice friends,” Clare says, but a boyfriend is not in the works. “It’s a lot easier to make friends without someone breathing down your neck the whole time. Not wanting you to talk to [other] people.”

Wow, no wonder she can “play act” with Avery so well...
