Let’s play a fun game, k? It’s called “what the heck is happening on Nashville?” And it goes like this: We’ll all read the synopsis for Season 1, Episode 20 “A Picture from Life’s Other Side” together, and then speculate on what happens. Cool? Let’s try it now:
Rayna finds an unlikely ally in Lamar when he sides with her against Teddy about the girls. Jolene sees Juliette struggling and tries to find a way to help. Avery and Will, separately, both get a chance to shine with bigger stars — but will it translate to career gold? And Tandy takes her own agenda to the board of Wyatt Industries.
Hmm. Here’s what we’ve got: Rayna (Connie Britton) teams up with Lamar (Powers Boothe) who — last time we saw him — was working for her ex-husband Teddy (Eric Close). While that covers the “unlikely” portion of the program, we have to ask why and how she chose him of all people to help her out. Knowing Lamar, it seems hard to believe that he would be able to set aside his already confusing relationship with Rayna’s ex to have a moment of clarity.
Moving on, we’ve heard that Ray is going to have to somehow choose between Deacon (Charles Esten) and her darling children, Maddie and Daphne. Does this mean that she’s chosen to forsake her ex/sometimes lover, Deax, in favor of her family? We expected something like that, but hope she can figure out a happy medium.
Also, it’s nice to see Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and Will (Chris Carmack) have something in common: they’re both GREAT at using people. From photos we’ve seen, it must be Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) who’s giving Avery the leg up. But what about Will? Is it Scarlett (Clare Bowen) or Gunnar (Sam Palladio) he’s latched onto?
Who cares about Tandy. The end.
