There’s trouble ahead for Edgehill Records on Nashville, trouble right here in Music City. Trouble with a capital T, and that rhymes with Juliette (Hayden Panettiere). Yes, that’s right folks, the pint-sized country-pop princess made waves on the Red Lips / White Lies tour with her stripped-down billowy shirt song and it’s only going to get harder to control her.
In the promo for Nashville Season 1, Episode 13, “There’ll Be No Teardrops Tonight,” Juliette goes off on her manager, Glenn, before having a full-on diva moment. She yells at her poor, half-shirted minions, screaming, “Whatever I say gets done!” and it is fire-breathingly terrifying. Because the label doesn’t seem stoked on her new image, she is being a bit of a C word. Does it mean the end for Juliette and the record label that made her?
Okay, we’re just going to call it right now so that we are the first. Here’s what we think is going to happen: Juliette continues to battle her management about a new image. Unhappy and unable to reach an agreement, she breaks up with Edgehill and follows Rayna to her new label. Bam. There’s your “everybody is going to crash into each other,” Clare Bowen (Scarlett O’Connor).
Sure, Rayna and Juliette have had their differences, but as the two begin to work together more and more, it’s possible they’ll get to a better understanding. Think about it: both have worked with Deacon, both have felt pressure from the label to be something they’re not, and both have slept with Deacon. With Rayna’s imminent divorce about to force her in the spotlight, she’ll likely have more compassion for the media-centric Juliette and the life she has to live in print.
