Despite the fact that he's a tragic loner with a weird fetish for movies about golden retrievers, Nashville's Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten) has managed to find himself a girlfriend — the sexy veterinarian otherwise known as Stacey (Susan Misner). It looks like Deacon and Stacey are getting pretty serious; she even went on tour with him! But let's be real, Deacon is head over heels in love with Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton), which means his steamy romance with Dr. Doo-Me-A-Little is pretty much doomed.
First of all, Susan Misner just nabbed a recurring role on The Americans, which means she'll no longer have time to make musical love to Deacon. “I hate it,” Nashville's creator, Callie Khouri, tells TV Line. “She’s been so great, and she and [Charles Esten] have incredible chemistry. She’s just really, really good.”
Callie says that Susan's ability to create a character that lovelorn Deacon could legitimately fall for (considering that he has the hots for Rayna) is a "testament to her and her acting ability."
True that! Stacey's time in Music City might be short lived, but her exit from the show will most likely tie into the fact that Deacon just isn't over Rayna — aka the girl (nay, woman) of his dreams. After all, Deacon and Rayna shared a seriously romantic moment while Lamar (Powers Boothe) was busy having a heart attack, which makes us think it's only a matter of time before they take their passion and make it happen.
Do you think Deacon and Stacey will have an amicable break up, or will this animal-lover break our favorite guitar virtuoso's heart? Spill your theories in the comments!
