Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer Returning to Elementary
Game of Thronesfans know Natalie Dormer as the ambitious and slyly manipulative future Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Margaery Tyrell, but that’s not the only juicy role the actress portrays on TV. In fact, you can look forward to seeing her return to her part as a very different sort of manipulative genius on this season of CBS's Elementary.
Access Hollywood reports that Dormer will reprise her role as Moriarty during Season 2 of Elementary, which is a modern-day retelling of Sherlock Holmes. The announcement was made Saturday night at PaleyFest in New York.
In Season 1 of Elementary, Natalie portrayed a love interest of Sherlock, Irene Adler. However, it was revealed in the Season 1 finale that her character was actually Sherlock’s arch nemesis, Moriarty. This should make for an interesting reunion when the characters come face-to-face again, which seems likely now that we know Natalie is returning to the show. It will also be a change of pace to see Natalie as a villain again; we’re used to rooting for her on GoT since she’s usually paired off with evil King Joffrey!
It’s unclear how involved Dormer will be in Elementary, due to her commitment to GoT, but we say the more Natalie Dormer on our television screens, the better!
