Naya Rivera on Her Rumored Exit: “People Take Little Things and Blow Them Up”
Rumors have been swirling in the past few months that Naya Rivera (Santana) will indeed be leaving Glee this season. But is she actually departing? Hold on a minute.
Lea Michele (Rachel) seemed to confirm the rumors when she listed off the cast members who would be appearing in the show's upcoming NYC-based scenes, and she didn't mention Naya's name. However, Naya wants her fans to take a deep breath.
"I can say that I have to go out of town tonight for a job, and I have to be back Thursday at noon to go to work on Glee," Naya told TV Line this week.
"I guess Lea was doing interviews and had omitted me from the New York cast list, but I’m sure that was just a Freudian slip on her part, or maybe it wasn’t," she continues. "People just take things, little things, and blow them up. But like I said, I’m reporting for duty Thursday at noon."
Phew. So we're glad that Naya doesn't yet have solid plans to leave the show, although she didn't exactly say that she definitely wouldn't leave after Season 5. Naya is contractually obligated to stay with the show until the end of this season, and then the producers would have to finalize the Season 6 cast by late June. At most, Naya may miss about two Season 5 episodes.
We frankly can't imagine Glee without Naya, so we're relieved that we don't have to start adjusting quite yet. Also, is it just us, or do Naya's comments make her appear to be a bit annoyed with Lea? Let's hope they can patch things up!
