With the end of her engagement to Big Sean and all the rumoured on-set drama surrounding the final episodes of Glee Season 5, Naya Rivera (Santana) has certainly had a difficult few months, but even at the height of all of the hoopla the 27-year-old actress kept aiming high.

Last month Naya told In Style about her plans to become a mini-mogul in a few years, and a recent Instagram post from the actress hints that she’s well on her way to taking over the world, or at the very least branching out in new and unexpected ways.

On June 8 Naya Instagramed a photo of a camera with a monitor on her lap, and although the snap is pretty straight-forward, the caption is what has us really psyched. “Living that director life…,” she wrote, likely being purposefully ambiguous.

The vague caption spurred a flurry of responses from Naya’s followers, many of whom were thrilled to hear that she was taking a turn in the director’s chair. Some followers even wondered if Naya’s directorial turn had anything to do with the PSA she’s reportedly slated to direct for Immigration Heritage Month, and although Naya didn’t confirm anything, we think this is as good a guess as any.

Michael Skolnik, the Political Director to Russell Simmons and Editor-in-Chief of GlobalGrind.com, more or less filled us in on the blanks of what Naya’s up to when he took to his own Instagram page and shared a snapshot of Naya hard at work behind the camera. “I could not be more proud of @NayaRivera! What a directorial debut. It was a joy to walk by her side throughout this process. Wait until you all see what she created. Wow. #WelcomeUS,” he wrote.

A subsequent Instagram post from Naya shows her standing in front of a brightly grafittied wall in New York City so it’s clear that this project has taken her to the “melting pot” of America. What better place to work on a PSA about immigration?!
