NBC Cancels Community — The Cast Reacts to Tragic News on Twitter
It looks like “Six Seasons and a Movie” has turned into “Five Seasons and a Cancellation,” fellow Human Beings. NBC has decided to officially close the doors on Community after five full seasons on the air. We know you’re still trying to process your feelings, but just imagine how the cast is feeling!
Community faced many ups and downs during its run on the Peacock network, replacing series creator Dan Harmon after the first three seasons and reinstating him for the fifth (and now final) season. On top of that, controversial original cast member Chevy Chase (Pierce Hawthorne) exited the series at the end of Season 4 and Donald Glover (Troy Barnes) decided to sail away early on in Season 5.
We have to hand it to Joel McHale (Jeff Winger), Gillian Jacobs (Britta Perry), Danny Pudi (Abed Nadir), Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley Bennett), Alison Brie (Annie Edison), Ken Jeong (Señor Chang), and Jim Rash (Dean Pelton) for braving the low ratings and rough handling from NBC for five years.
There’s still hope that there will be an outlet for the series to continue, whether it be Netflix or Hulu — and we consider it a strong candidate for a Kickstarter campaign.
