NBC Picks Up New Michael J. Fox Comedy For Fall 2013

Twenty-three years after Family Ties wrapped on NBC in 1989, Michael J. Fox is heading back to the network as the star of an all-new comedy based on his real-life experiences as a father with Parkinson’s Disease.

NBC announced today that they’ve picked up the single-camera comedy for a full 22-episode season. “To bring Michael J. Fox back to NBC is a supreme honor and we are thrilled that one of the great comedic television stars is coming home again,” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt gushed in a statement.

Michael added, “I'm extremely pleased to be back at NBC with a great creative team and a great show.”

Look for the still-untitled project to premiere next fall. If Michael’s Emmy-nominated Curb Your Enthusiasm cameo is any indication, the 51-year-old actor knows how to find humor in his personal struggle with Parkinson’s.
