If you buy tickets to the upcoming Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Itch expecting to see star Neil Patrick Harris looking like his well-groomed How I Met Your Mother character, you'll be surprised. As this poster proves, Neil looks nothing like himself as Hedwig.

And nor should he. The musical focuses on Hedwig, a transgender East German woman and the lead singer of a rock band comprised of Korean-born Army wives.

The "Angry Inch" of the title refers to both Hedwig's back-up musicians and the unfortunate result of the botched sex change she undergoes to leave East Berlin with her lover, a U.S. soldier.

Actor and writer John Cameron Mitchell — whom you might recognize from his recent role as Hannah's editor on Girls — created the musical and starred in the its off-Broadway run in 1998. He also received a Golden Globe nomination after reprising the part in the 2001 film adaptation.

John is a big proponent of Neil inheriting the role for the Broadway production, which is set to premiere at April 22 at New York City's Belasco Theatre. "Who better to pass the wig to but the finest entertainer of his generation?" he writes in a statement.

That's all well and good, but we have one pressing question: Where can we get that lipstick?
