NeNe Leakes and Gregg Talk Prenup: “It’s a Great Thing”
NeNe and Gregg Leakes are sharing their nuptials with the world on I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding, but talk show host Arsenio Hall wants to hear about one specific part of their relationship: The prenup. Gulp.
The couple appear on Arsenio's new late-night talk show this week, and the host asks why Gregg resisted signing a prenup.
"I'm apprehensive because we're not gonna need it — we're never divorcing again," Gregg tells Arsenio.
Ultimately, the couple did sign a prenup prior to their remarriage in June 2013, and Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe explains why she is pro-prenup. "I got so many people talking to me about a prenup, like it was a bad thing," she says. "To me, in an African-American household, a lot of people feel like a prenup is a bad thing. It's not — it's a great thing."
"You would handle your will upfront, or your life insurance — you handle all those things before you pass," NeNe continues. "It's the same thing, in case something happens."
NeNe added that it might be in Gregg's best interest to opt for the prenup. "I feel like it was easier for us to work everything out in the front end while I like you, okay?" she says. "That's real. If I don't like you, and we break up, honey, you not gonna get nothing. I will be fighting you tooth and nail."
Gregg didn't ask NeNe to sign a prenup for their first marriage, when he had more money than she did, but now that she has more money, he's agreed to sign one. So why didn't Gregg make her sign one last time? NeNe has a theory. "[Men] like Hello Kitty, then they worry about the other stuff later," NeNe hilariously puts it, in an obvious reference to sex.
We're just glad that they're back together and that they could both reach an arrangement they're happy with.
