NeNe Leakes Cries After Husband Is Hospitalized: “I Can’t Do This”
NeNe Leakes will always be by her husband’s side.
On Sunday’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, the reality star’s husband, Gregg Leakes, was rushed to the hospital after he had a “dangerously low” heart rate.
They then were forced to perform a minor surgery to see if he had any blockage around his heart.
Needless to say, it was a very emotional time for the former Glee star.
“I heard his voice on the phone and I knew that he was afraid,” she shared.
“Like, ‘If this is the last time that I’m going to see anybody, I need to see my wife.’ … Everything was just kind of going really left.”
Despite trying to remain calm, the 49-year-old’s mind instantly started thinking of the worst.
“Oh my God, what if Gregg doesn’t come home?” she said through tears.
“What will they find? Is this something that Gregg’s not telling me? I can’t even imagine Gregg not walking on this earth. I can’t do this. Gregg has to get better.”
The Fashion Police co-host and Gregg have been together for 20 years and they share an 18-year-old son together named Brentt.
“His dad had heart issues, and Gregg’s always had it in his head that he’s going to have heart issues,” Nene told co-star Cynthia Bailey.
“I’ve known NeNe for like eight years now. I know she is very concerned, but I also can see that she’s in denial,” Cynthia shared.
“I don’t think she’s fully grasped how serious any type of heart situation could potentially be. I think NeNe is dealing with the situation with Gregg the best way she knows how to.”
She continued, “She’s not the girl that handles any kind of sickness situation well.”
Then, after Gregg entered the hospital, NeNe called Cynthia again to give her an update.
“[He’s] elevating his feet and all this stuff, trying to keep his heart rate where it needs to be,” she said.
“Last night I didn’t sleep good because normally it’s me who’s gone. Normally Greg is here, so I didn’t sleep good knowing he is gone.”
Though the episode ended in a cliffhanger, it looks like Gregg is doing well now.
RHOA airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
