It may be NeNe’s world and we’re just living in it, but one man is the center of our favorite diva’s life and that’s Gregg Leakes. The reality starlet has now walked down the aisle twice to be with this silver-haired stud, the second time in her spin-off show, I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding.

Wetpaint Entertainment spoke exclusively with Gregg about the show and his second shot at marriage with NeNe.

Wetpaint Entertainment: What’s it been like to be on a show entirely devoted to your family versus The Real Housewives of Atlanta, which features six different families?

Gregg Leakes: It’s been wonderful! It’s sharing a real family. This is what we do every day of our lives so it takes some adjusting as you’re coming off the Housewives with multiple families, but it’s something I really wanted to do. So it was very easy for me.

In last week’s episode, the tension between NeNe and your children reached an all time high. How did you feel during that conversation?

It was hurtful but necessary. I know that the pent up emotion in my own son in particular, Damian, had to come out. He’s most like me when I was his age. I know that my wife’s emotions had to come out. These would be the two that had to meet and go through some stuff, but it’s going to be OK in the end. That was a necessary evil, and it did hurt not only to film it, but it hurt to see it.

You were very opposed to the prenup in the premiere episode. What made you change your mind?

I had to sit down with her and understand what a prenup really is. I thought it was a device that would cause even more of a division among people than divorce. It took some soul searching to really come around to it. I came up with my own conclusion we’re not going to get divorced anyway, so the thing will never be needed. So who cares what’s in it?

How would you define your marriage now versus your first marriage to NeNe that lasted 15 years?

I would term it as being a marriage of equal appreciation for one. A marriage of more tolerance, a marriage of more love — even though we never fell out of love, not for one day. A marriage of communication, a marriage of understanding and caring. I am a loving person anyway. I like to surprise my wife. I get flowers every week. We have a date night every week. I spend a lot of time with her even to the point that I’m finally catching on to this shopping thing. So it’s a marriage with more heightened and enlightened things that were missing.

How long do you think NeNe will continue to appear on The Real Housewives of Atlanta?

I have no idea about that. I can only say that as long as she’s there, she’ll have her family’s support. As long as she’s happy.

Fans of the show were excited to see Kim Zolciak invited to your wedding. How was it having Kim there for your big day?

Kim has always been a friend of mine. We hug and kiss every time we see each other, and I embraced her husband, Kroy. I was there when they first met, matter of fact. I think if memory serves me, we went to an event in Atlanta and Kroy was there and she kept looking at his butt. She said “Ooh what a nice butt!” She talked about it for a little while and I finally said, “Look, do you want me to go get that guy with the big butt for you?” So I think I went and got him.

So you’re responsible for Kim and Kroy?

Well I wouldn’t say I’m responsible for them. I think I was a messenger. And they’ve been together ever since.

Do you and NeNe have any gifts planned for her twins?

We haven’t talked about it. I’m sure we’ll do something for Kim’s family, absolutely!

What was your favorite part of filming the wedding spin-off? Any big moments we can look forward to?

There are two and the first outweighs the second. The second was when the choir sang “The Lord’s Prayer” at our wedding. I lost it. I absolutely lost it. Then the first was to see my wife walk down that aisle. To see how radiant and luscious she looked and to realize that she was coming down the aisle to be with me again! That’s appreciation, that’s humility. I had chills all over my body. I even started down the steps to try to go get her and they stopped me. I couldn’t wait. I just couldn’t wait!

I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
