While NeNe Leakes is known for being over-the-top, the way she recently lost 20 pounds is surprisingly sensible — portion control and exercise. So practical!

“I’m not trying to starve myself. I love food! I didn’t count calories or carbs,” NeNe revealed to Life & Style Magazine. “Counting doesn’t get me anywhere. I do portion control when trying to lose weight. Eat less, move more.”

What’s even more interesting is the 5’10 Real Housewives of Atlanta mega-star said she wasn’t even trying to lose that much weight.

“I only wanted to lose five or 10 pounds,” the star, 45, told the mag. “I like being a curvy girl.”

Husband Gregg Leakes inspired her to shed the pounds, and once she cut out soda and late-night snacking, the weight simply melted off her tall frame.

When the now-teeny weeny NeNe (sorry, had to) hits the gym, she works out with Live Your Healthiest Life author Tammy Stokes, incorporating interval training and yoga. Running around in pursuit of her 16-month-old granddaughter Bri’asia doesn’t hurt either!
