During NeNe Leakes’ E! tell-all last night, December, 16, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star opened up about various hardships she’s faced throughout her life, but she also talked about some lighter, happier subjects, like how she got her start on RHoA and her second marriage to Gregg.

NeNe revealed that she had been wanting to act all her life, and when she heard that Bravo was casting for RHoA she knew she’d be a good fit. Still, NeNe recalled being nervous when she met the show’s producers for the first time. “I had wine instead of having breakfast,” she told interviewer Giuliana Rancic with a laugh.

NeNe also talked about how, once she was cast on the show, she introduced producers to many of her over-the-top acquaintances, including Kim Zolciak, DeShawn Snow, and Sheree Whitfield. Kim, DeShawn, and Sheree are no longer on the show, but NeNe couldn’t help sneaking in a little jab about Sheree, saying, “She’s the only celebrity that I know that’s not a celebrity!”

Oh NeNe, you slay us!

And while NeNe is the first to admit that reality TV has opened several doors for her, it’s also created its own set of problems for her sons, Bryson and Brentt, and husband Gregg. As NeNe’s star began to rise because of RHoA, Gregg grew increasingly uncomfortable with his wife’s success. Things got so bad that the couple divorced in 2011. “I am definitely a part of the curse, but for me it was a different way,” NeNe dished when remembering RHoA’s role in her split.

For NeNe, RHoA afforded her a level of independence that she hadn’t known before. “You have to be strong to play this game,” she declared. And strong she is! After about a year apart, NeNe and Gregg rekindled their romance and were married for the second time last June. “Our love never faltered,” Gregg said once he joined his wife on the interview couch.

NeNe and Gregg are blissfully happy these days, but our girl is still hungry for more. “I would love to star in a major sitcom once again. I love acting. I would love to do film,” she said at the conclusion of the special. “And I know this may sound small but I haven’t had my dream home yet, so we’re working on that. It feels like an accomplishment, me achieving the American Dream.”
