Last night’s premiere of The Dark Knight Rises left the majority of fans with one common belief — thou shalt not spoil this film for anyone.
So don’t worry, you can read on and be free of those nasty spoilers that plague the Internet in what’s hopefully your last few hours pre-DKR.
The third installment of Christopher Nolan’s epic Batman trilogy will not disappoint, but is likely to surprise. Here are 5 non-spoiler truths about what’s sure to be one of this summer’s most talked about films.
1) Joseph Gordon-Levitt Steals the Show
After excelling in his supporting role in 2010’s Inception, Joseph Gordon-Levitt really stepped up his game playing a Gotham cop in The Dark Knight Rises. His infectious hope was reminiscent of his 10 Things I Hate About You days, and his ability to kick ass was a delicious perk.
2) It’s Hard to Top Heath Ledger
As much as this final film was an epic battle of, well, epicness, Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker has permeated the Batman infrastructure so much that it was hard to think of anything else. Bane was a menacing villain, but after watching Heath lick his lips and slick his hair back, it’s doubtful there could be a way to top The Joker in Batman villain history.
3) Batman Begins Refresher May Help
It’s been seven years since Batman Begins came out, and after audiences were blown away by the series’ second installment, it’s likely that you could have forgotten some of the plot details that explain Batman’s origins. Batman’s backstory is a crucial part of the film, so it wouldn’t hurt to marathon the first two movies before going to the final flick.
4) Tom Hardy Is Unrecognizable
British actor Tom Hardy developed some impressive mannerisms playing Bane, but with an affected voice and half-covered face, the man behind the wire-trap breathalyzer could have been almost anyone with a meaty build. It’s even harder to believe that this ruthless killer was recently in the rom-com This Means War with Reese Witherspoon.
5) Anne Hathaway Is at Her Best
Mia Thermopolis has come a long way since her Princess Diaries days (which we loved, so don’t be alarmed). She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Rachel Getting Married, but playing Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman has helped this actress really come into her own. Walking the line between sexy and damaged, Ms. Hathaway’s performance was far from cheesy and masterfully executed.
