A Legend of Sleepy Hollow TV Series? Networks Consider Two Competing Projects
From American Horror Story to The Vampire Diaries, supernatural and horror series are all the rage on TV these days. So it’s no surprise that networks are looking for the next big thing in this breakout genre — and that they’re particularly interested in putting a contemporary spin on old classics.
For example, MTV is developing a series based on Scream, Lifetime is looking to produce a Silence of the Lambs prequel, and A&E is working on a Psycho prequel called Bates Motel. Now Deadline reports that The CW is considering a project from Missing writers Patrick Macmanus and Grant Scharbo that would be a modern-day take on Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. While there would still be plenty of creepy headlessness, Ichabod Crane would be recast as an FBI agent.
Meanwhile, another team is pitching a similar Sleepy Hollow remake idea to FOX, CBS, ABC, and NBC.
No matter which series — if either — makes it to our small screens, this news cements the reality that viewers are hungry for the otherworldly.
