Adele's James Bond Theme Leaked! Listen to “Skyfall” Now (UPDATE)
UPDATE: Now that it's October 5, Global James Bond Day, the full song has been released. See below!
Original story:
The British Secret Service would be ashamed: Adele’s theme song for the next James Bond movie, Skyfall, has hit the web — days ahead of schedule. Perhaps some hacker just earned his or her double-0 status!
The song, appropriately titled “Skyfall,” was supposed to be unveiled at 12:07 A.M. BST (or 00:07, by the 24-hour clock) on October 5, the 50th anniversary of the date that the franchise’s first movie, Dr. No, was released.
But somehow, a snippet of the track popped up three days early, giving Bond fans an unexpected thrill this morning. (See the video below!)
The fully-orchestrated, lounge-like feel evokes classic James Bond themes like Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds Are Forever.”
Adele co-wrote the theme with Paul Epworth, with whom she wrote “Rolling in the Deep.”
“There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.” the British chanteuse confesses in a statement. “But I fell in love with the script, and Paul had some great ideas for the track, and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end.”
The track was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, with a 77-piece orchestra backing Adele’s vocals.
“When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life,” the multi-platinum singer says. “I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60, telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I'm sure.”
The song is available as a pre-order on iTunes now, and Skyfall — starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, and Judi Dench — hits theaters on November 9.
