Amanda Knox spent nearly four years in an Italian prison for allegedly murdering her study-abroad roommate, Meredith Kercher, before being acquitted in October 2011. During the Italian trial, Amanda was nicknamed “Foxy Knoxy” by the press, and the case itself became an international fixation — a sordid tale of gruesome murder featuring a soap opera cast of young lovers. Amanda maintained her innocence throughout the duration of the trial and returned to her hometown of Seattle, WA, immediately upon release.

Amanda addressed the court directly at the conclusion of the trial: “I want to go home. I want to go back to my life. I don’t want to be punished. I don’t want my future taken away from me for something I didn’t do because I am innocent,” reports The Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Amanda currently lives with her boyfriend, a University of Washington student, in the International District in Seattle. Yet, despite her attempts at normalcy, Amanda is continually hounded by paparazzi and remains the subject of tabloid fodder.

Amanda’s future looks anything but bleak and anything but normal: She has sold her memoir to publisher HarperCollins for an extraordinary $4 million, according to The New York Times. The memoir is tentatively scheduled to be published in early 2013.

In the book, Amanda “will give a full and unflinching account of the events that led to her arrest in Perugia and her struggles with the complexities of the Italian judicial system," HarperCollins said in a press release. “She will reveal never before-told details surrounding her case, and describe how she used her inner strength and strong family ties to cope with the most challenging time of her young life."
