American Horror Story Season 2 Casting Roundup: Lovers, Little People, and the Bride of Christ
From little people and nymphomaniacs to "The Lovers" and the "Bride of Christ," the illustrious cast of American Horror Story's second season is finally taking shape. And what a sexy, deformed shape that is.
Let’s take a look at which actors and actresses have been confirmed for AHS’s sophomore season.
The Veterans: Showrunner Ryan Murphy promised to create new roles for several of his Season 1 stars, and later announced the return of Evan Peters (who played the Cobain-esque rubber-man rapist, Tate), Zachary Quinto, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, and last season’s queen of mean, Jessica Lange.
Of the originals, only Jessica’s Season 2 character has been fleshed out (pun sort of intended). She will play “a nun,” according to AHS writer Tim Minear, in an interview with MTV. "She's playing something that's a little more East Coast, a little more patrician," he continued. “She's playing an administrator of a facility. It's different [from Constance, her Season 1 character]. In this instance, she's a bride of Christ."
Adam Levine has been cast as a newlywed, as he recently explained to E! “I’m newly married and I go with my wife on our honeymoon,” he revealed. “I don’t want to tell you too much and actually I should shut my mouth because [Ryan Murphy] will freak out, but it’s gory.” We know that Adam will be playing one half of the deliciously termed “Lovers.”
Lizzie Brocheré will play the seductress Gia, who acts as an antagonist to Jessica’s character. TVLine reports that the casting call for Gia notes the character’s similarity to Angelina Jolie’s gorgeous sociopath in Girl, Interrupted. Lizzie is French, and she’ll play the “fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot” with, we suspect, a French accent.
James Cromwell is rumored to be playing Dr. Arden, “who works at the institution and goes head-to-head with his boss,” played by Jessica Lange.
Chloe Sevigny has been in talks to play Shelly the Nymphomaniac for months, so we’re going to say she’s almost a sure thing.
Chris Zylka is the latest star to be cast, and we can’t help but guess that Lucy Hale’s boyfriend will play “the most beautiful boy in the world,” considering the only remaining marquee parts as of last month were for contortionists, “thin, wiry” guys, female little people, and Adam Levine’s new wife, the “super-sexy, twenty-something” Theresa, the other “Lover.” Unless Chris and Adam are about to swap saliva (we wouldn’t put anything past the AHS writers), we’re gonna prepare ourselves for Chris looking even more beautiful than ever.
Alternate theory: Chris plays the “thin, wiry” 18-year-old farmhand, and Evan Peters plays the beautiful boy.
