Anne Hathaway Reveals Her "Crazy" Les Miserables Weight Loss Routine

For the past year, Anne Hathaway has been living off lettuce... and the perpetually-hungry actress isn’t happy about it.

The Devil Wears Prada star slimmed down and toned up for her role as Catwoman in this summer’s Batman finale, The Dark Knight Rises, but unfortunately for Anne, the weight loss didn’t end there. The actress was also reportedly ordered to drop 16 more pounds to play the part of Fantine, a prostitute dying of tuberculosis in the film adaptation of Les Miserables.

In a chat with Allure magazine, Anne describes her “crazy” workout regimens and how the curve-hugging Catwoman suit became the bane of her existence.

"[The suit] was a psychological terrorist," she said. "The suit, thoughts of my suit, changing my life so I would fit into that suit.... It dominated my year."

“I didn't understand how you could be thin and strong,” Anne added. “I went into the gym for ten months and didn't come out."

Now prepping for the role of a malnourished 17th century prostitute (who also happens to be dying), the star seems to be after a look of emaciation.

"I'm doing some crazy weight stuff right now,” she said. “I’m on day six of detox... this diet makes me break out, so I love that. Nothing like living on hummus and radishes and then be all, 'And I got a pimple. Yeah!'"
