Anne Hathaway's Ex Speaks Out After Prison Release: "I Was Very Much In Love With Her"

Raffaello Follieri did bad things — he served almost four years in prison for wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. But as the 33-year-old Italian put it to People, "I'm not a saint, but I'm not the devil." 

Raffaello had been dating actress Anne Hathaway for four years before he was arrested. He told People they were talking about marriage and he bought her an engagement ring. "I was very much in love with her." 

He said he thought his life was over when he first got to federal prison in Loretto, Pennsylvania, but he got through it one day at a time.  

Meanwhile, Anne is thriving. After her 2008 split with Raffaello, she started dating actor Adam Shulman and they are now engaged. She plays Catwoman in the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises and just shot her role as Fantine in Les Misérables.
