Feuding ex-lovers John Mayer and Taylor Swift came face-to-face on Tuesday night and onlookers say the unexpected confrontation was “drama central.”
The accidental meet-up occurred at West Hollywood’s Tower Bar, Page Six reports. While the blonde songstress was waiting to be seated, she noticed John across the room and apparently went into panic mode.
“Taylor very visibly — in front of the entire restaurant — demanded to be moved to the other side,” a witness told Page Six. “The bar’s usually an oasis of calm and privacy for celebrities and power players, but this was drama central.”
While Taylor’s demands may have garnered some unwanted attention, we can understand why she wanted to avoid her ex — the confrontation came about right around the time John gushed to Rolling Stone about his hurt feelings over Taylor’s song “Dear John.”
In an interview with the magazine, John says that the lyrics to Taylor’s thinly veiled lament over their break-up “really humiliated” him and that writing the song “was a really lousy thing for her to do.”
Digging the knife a little deeper, John even goes on to insult Taylor’s musical skills, saying Taylor was “abusing” her talent and that her song was “kind of cheap songwriting.”
Sounds like these two stars need to air their grievances with each other before giving interviews or writing songs — maybe a stop and chat would have been just what they needed!
