As the second to last Twilight movie nears its fall premiere, the stars of the vamp phenomenon are starting to think about bidding farewell to each other and to the franchise that changed their lives.

“We had some really special moments, all of us, individually,” Nikki Reed (Rosalie Cullen) told fans at San Diego's Comic-Con. “And we had some really great moments together. I’ll miss being a part of the community. In terms of being in touch, I don’t know what will happen. I’d like to say it’ll be a fairy tale ending and we’ll have dinners once a week. There will be things that live on forever.”

Like their never-ending publicity campaign, for example. Which is one of the reasons the cast isn’t feeling nostalgic — yet. “For the next two years we should be okay because we’ll have premieres and conventions,” said Ashley Greene. “But eventually it will all sadly come to an end.”

For fans, it’s only the beginning of the end, and at the panel for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, the cast offered up their favorite scenes from the upcoming movie. “My favorite was the birth scene,” said Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen). “It was different to anything I’ve done before. I never got to play Edward in a way [where] literally he’s so aware of his own helplessness. He’s tried to help Bella but there’s nothing he can do. He’s desperate. Normally when that happens in the other movie Bella comes in to save the dead. Every single time, Bella comes to save him. But this time Bella can’t. It was nice to play someone who’s totally annihilated by the entire situation.”

If you’re Team Jacob, Breaking Dawn offers lots of Taylor Lautner moments, as his character transforms and matures. For Lautner, that’s what has made Breaking Dawn the best film in the franchise so far, for him. “This movie (Breaking Dawn Part 1) is my favorite,” he said. “It’s a testament to Bill (Condon, the director). You’re able to see all of the characters in a different light that you’ve never seen before. We’re dealing with things we never have before. I think that’s why it was my favorite. It was a challenge but we had a lot of fun.”

But for some, it never gets better than the very first time. “I really like Twilight a lot,” said Kristen Stewart. “Catherine did a spectacular job that made it different from the rest of them. And I like [Breaking Dawn] a lot. I just saw it. Seeing them at points that are nostalgic for anyone: at weddings, Bella pregnant… It’s weird. I’m incredibly connected to it.”

So if everyone’s still eager to stay together, how about a Twilight spinoff? “Oh, who knows,” says Greene. “I mean fans are certainly passionate. So there's definitely an opportunity for it, but as far as we know, we are finished.”
