Cutting Ed(ward): D.B. Sweeney Angers Twilight Fans by Calling Robert Pattinson a “Douche”
While most of America thought Twilight star Robert Pattinson fared pretty well during his visit to The Daily Show — the actor’s first public interview since the news of girlfriend Kristen Stewart’s cheating scandal broke — not everyone was impressed. D.B. Sweeney, perhaps best known as Douglas “Toe Pick” Dorsey from the ’90s figure skating movie The Cutting Edge, tweeted his displeasure on August 17: “Just saw Pattinson on #DailyShow trying to figure out what took k-stew so long to look around with this douche astride her. #holytwit.”
A good deal of Twilight’s fandom is not in D.B.’s demographic and couldn’t understand why the Swamp Shark star would be dissing R.Patz. For one thing, he was recently directed by Kristen’s mother (and worked with her brother) in the upcoming film K-11. Maybe that’s why he’s Team Kristen?
As Twi-hards vented their anger on Twitter, D.B. continued to bait them by retweeting their insults (“don't talk crap about Rob. Sick low life. He's never done anything to you. I hate you”). Then he wrote, “Nice language twi-hards. Or should I say tards? Love the inchoate indignation,” which sparked even more outrage over his use of the offensive word.
The barrage of D.B. putdowns hasn’t stopped since. We’ve rounded up some of the most creative/frightening responses to Sweeney’s barbs at Pattinson.
