Boy Meets World fans are just a wee bit excited for the spinoff/sequel Girl Meets World, which will reportedly start production in February. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are both returning, reviving their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence in a Disney Channel production that will follow their TV characters' 13-year-old daughter.
Earlier this month, Ben talked to Rolling Stone about how the sequel came about, noting that they hadn't quite casted his TV daughter yet.
Danielle recently talked to Ryan Seacrest about the new show, and she said they are going to try to infuse it with "the same heart, and integrity and innocence that the first one had" to make sure they don't let fans down. Of course, a big difference will be that Cory and Topanga are now parents, which is a fun twist for the now 31-year-old Danielle.
"I’m coming back as a mom, which is really exciting because I’ve always wanted to be a mom and I’m not one in my real life," Danielle told Seacrest. "And when I think back [to] when we started Boy Meets World in ’93 — so almost 20 years ago — I was 12 when we started, and so the idea that now I get to see another young girl who is about the same age as I was 20 years ago starting in her own career is really exciting.”
It’s exciting all around! Danielle said she’d update everyone on the status of the project in early 2013, so we should have more details soon.
