In an interview with Jenna Bush Hager on the Today show this morning (February 14), Taylor Swift discussed how she’s transitioning from a teenage dream to a poised, 22-year-old songwriter — and it sounds like she will not be using Britney Spears as a role model.
“I’m never gonna have the moment where I’m like, ‘I’m a woman now, guys. I’m only gonna write dark songs and I’m gonna dance in my bra all the time.’ That’s not really me,” Taylor said.
Could Tay Tay be referring to Britney Spears’s video for “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” in which a 20-year-old Britney sports a beige, bra-style top and jeans while dancing on mountaintops?
Taylor continued, “I hope things will gradually evolve into growing up as people naturally grow up. I feel like 22 is an age where a lot of times artists feel like they need to be like, ‘I’m a woman now, guys.’ I don’t know, I feel like it should happen naturally for me.”
We’re also wondering if Taylor might be associating all this grown-up showmanship with one Miss Miley Cyrus, who has been extremely outspoken about her new-found affinity for gay marriage, being a “stoner” who “smokes too much weed,” and dancing on stripper poles.
