What is it about pixie cuts that makes them so divisive? Last November Michelle Williams quipped that “straight men across the board are not into this hair,” and just last month Miley Cyrus’s super-short new ’do sparked a flurry of controversy.

So it comes as no surprise that Emma Watson drew a similar mix of criticism and approval when she lopped off her long locks in October 2010. Apparently, most of the negative reviews came from the boys.

The October 2012 Glamour cover girl now reveals, “Of course, men like long hair. There's no two ways about it. The majority of the boys around me were like, ‘Why did you do that? That's such an error.’”

But it didn't faze her, because she absolutely loved her low-maintenance cut. “I've never felt so confident as I did with short hair,” she gushes. “I felt really good in my own skin."

What did you think of the 22-year-old star's 'do: Did you love it, or were you among those who secretly (or not so secretly) bashed it?
