Fifty Shades of Grey Film: When Will It Be Released? The Answer Is...
When will a Fifty Shades of Grey movie hit theaters? It might be sooner than you think!
Universal Pictures chairman Adam Fogelson tells The Hollywood Reporter that the studio is making every effort to make progress on the film while still ensuring a high quality.
"It's conceivable that we could be ready to release it as early as next summer," Adam reveals. Hooray!
He also responds to concerns that the Fifty Shades movie is taking too long to come together, which may cause the project to lose some buzz.
"I certainly understand why some people might take that point of view," Adam admits. "But I don't believe that [author E.L. James] had any interest in going to a studio where rushing it into production was the vision."
"I don't believe that the second or third film would have benefited from that strategy," he says about rushing things. "And I think that there are totally legitimate questions about what this book is as a movie. I will tell you that it is an absolute priority for us."
So who will be directing the movie? Adam denies rumors that Angelina Jolie was in talks to direct, as he says that she will not be directing the movie.
However, he points out that "we have had really, really interesting, great conversations with talented, serious filmmakers." Sounds promising.
So we must admit that we get excited at the mere mention of the Fifty Shades of Grey film, but now that we know when the movie might be released, it's become even more real.
Then again, will the movie really be done by summer of 2014? After all, it doesn't even have a cast or a director yet, let alone a finished script. So we're skeptical but hopeful.
Nonetheless, we're going to completely keep our calendar clear for that entire summer, just to be on the safe side.
