It's hard to know whether to be relieved or frustrated at how long this is taking.
We were getting worried that maybe certain actors weren't called for Fifty Shades of Grey casting because they had been passed over. But author E.L. James was at Vanity Fair's 2013 Oscars party and told Page Six, "We don’t even have a filmmaker . . . so we are still a long way away from casting. I have some ideas . . . but it may not be who people expect."
Not whom we’d expect? So … not the usual suspects, like Ian Somerhalder, Henry Cavill, Matt Bomer, Alexis Bledel, Lucy Hale, etc.?
Page Six said agents at the party were “lining up to meet James to pitch their actors” for the Fifty Shades movies, but she’s probably not going to be easily swayed. This is her baby, after all, and we have to trust that she and the filmmakers will make the right calls.
Good luck finding the perfect cast! We'll just be waiting here, crossing our fingers for good news...
