GQ has issued a response to August 2012 cover boy Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Tumblr post about his displeasure with their statement regarding his older brother’s 2010 death and the magazine isn’t exactly conciliatory.

"The magazine stands by its reporting, the facts of which are fully supported — and have been confirmed in detail — by the Los Angeles County coroner's office," GQ said in a statement on July 18 (via The Wrap).

"Because the writer, Amy Wallace, and her editors understood the pain Dan's passing caused the Gordon-Levitt family, the story sought to be respectful — and brief — in the way it described his death, which GQ felt was a relevant fact in Joseph Gordon-Levitt's biography," the publication continued.

In her profile article, Wallace writes that Dan died “of an alleged drug overdose,” which rankled JGL on several levels. He fired back that the line was “factually incorrect,” and he also expressed his disappointment in the editorial decision to give Dan’s death more attention than his life and personality.
