Homeland is no stranger to wild plot twists and turns, so it comes as no surprise that the hit drama’s upcoming sophomore season will be just as heavy on the suspense and overall uncertainty.

David Nevins, Showtime’s president of entertainment, hinted at the continuing craziness during the TCAs on July 30 (via TV Guide). “By the end of the second episode, you're like 'Holy s!'” he revealed. “By the third, you understand what the direction of this season will be.”

But what’s even more unsettling is that he wouldn’t even guarantee the safety of the central characters. “Anybody can go at any time,” he teased. “Absolutely, it's always a possibility.”

Damian Lewis, who plays the deeply disturbed Sargent Brody, cut straight to the point when describing his character in Season 2: "He's everybody's b. He's fed."

Claire Danes admitted that Carrie will struggle with her confidence for the first three episodes, but then something will trigger a recovery. Also, the tough-as-nails character will continue to be “fervently non-pregnant” — despite Claire’s real-life pregnancy.

Season 2 of Homeland premieres right after Dexter’s Season 8 opener on Sunday, September 30 on Showtime. The critically acclaimed drama is also up for nine 2012 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Damian Lewis), and Outstanding Lead Actress (Claire Danes).
