The long-awaited day has finally come!
Earlier today TMZ reported that Jessica Simpson’s mother, Tina, and sister, Ashlee, had arrived at an L.A.-area hospital, along with Jessica’s fiance’s parents. The singer, who announced her pregnancy with hubby-to-be Eric Johnson on Halloween last year, was already over 10 days past her April 20 due date.
Now Us Weekly reports that Jessica has given birth to a 9-pound, 13-ounce baby girl, Maxwell Drew Simpson. (Drew is Tina Simpson’s maiden name.) In an announcement posted to her website, Jess writes, “We are so grateful for all of the love, support, and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”
Back in late March, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, a hugely pregnant Jessica made it more than obvious that she was ready to get the baby out. “I feel like I have a bowling ball sitting on my hoo-ha,” she joked. “I’m ready to push!”
In December, before her TMI phase, Jessica gushed to Us Weekly, "Eric and I love each other so much, and knowing that I love this baby inside of me is so amazing — I love it so much and I haven't even met them yet. I can't imagine how much love we'll have for it once it finally comes!"
Now that baby Maxi is here, the new mama can finally dole out that love — and crack open her $900 bottle of scotch. Cheers to that!
