Is Vanessa Paradis's Anti-Soulmate Attitude to Blame for Her Break-up With Johnny Depp?
Johnny Depp and longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis have reportedly broken up after a recent bout of intense fighting — but a new interview with Vanessa suggests her very French attitude on love (soulmates, particularly) may play a big part in the pair's alleged split.
According to RadarOnline, Paradis was busy promoting her new movie, Cafe de Flore, a romance, and accidentally or not, began waxing unenthusiastically about romance.
“Cafe de Flore speaks of love, its joys, its pains and its dramas — to love and to lose. This story upset me, I was upside-down, in the depths of myself.” Meanwhile, Vanessa was in France, halfway around the world from Johnny, who is allegedly living in Los Angeles while the couple spends time apart.
As for the concept of soulmates, despite spending the last 14 years of her life with Johnny, the model-turned-actress isn’t a fan. "The idea of a soulmate is beautiful and very romantic to talk about it in a movie or a song, but in reality I find it scary."
As jealous as we are of Vanessa (and we are — come on, it’s Johnny frickin’ Depp), we’re rooting for these two to make it work. Their kids are too gorgeous to grow up as doomed romantics, and, as we've learned from every Johnny Depp movie, you have to have a somber Act Two before the rapturous Act Three. Make it work, kids!
