Jake Gyllenhaal Is Giving Up
Brace yourselves, America: Jake Gyllenhaal is letting himself go.
The Hollywood hunk, who titillated audiences with his well-muscled nakedness in the films Jarhead and Love and Other Drugs, is quitting his demanding Hollywood workout routine in favor of a more relaxed approach to exercise. But before you honor the loss of his fine physique by adding a shot of Bailey's to your vanilla latte, it looks like Jake's foray into relative laziness is only temporary.
"I haven't cycled in a long time," he reveals in Details' September issue. "I don't run anymore. Do I take care of my body and take conditioning seriously? Yes. But exercising regularly doesn't fit the energy of the character I'm playing now."
The character he's talking about is from An Enemy, a thriller in which Jake hunts down a look-alike after spotting him in a movie (so meta!). Clearly, Jake has put his artistic needs before those of his shallowest fans. Priorities, Jake. Priorities.
Of course, we're still going to see the movie; it has Jake Gyllenhaal in it.
