Italian magazine Chi went ahead with its bold decision to publish nude photos of Kate Middleton, despite the British royal family’s “furious” reaction and plans to sue the photographer who snapped the pics of the Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless.
Although there are rumored to be around 200 pictures of Kate on her secluded terrace in Provence, France, the mag used only 18 photos for the spread they titled, “The Queen is Naked.”
While the decision has provoked scorn from both the royal family and Italians across the country, Chi’s editor, Alfonso Signorini seemed unphased, tweeting that “not even a direct call from the Queen” would stop the photos from going to print.
“If I had had more scandalous photos I would have willingly published them,” Signorini told the Guardian. “Since Kate is not exactly Alice in Wonderland, she should have expected this.”
The press in the U.K., however, is staying true to an informal agreement between the media and the royal family and has no plans to publish the pics.
