Katie Holmes Shows "Signs" of Divorce Plans in Interview Given One Day Before Split

Katie Holmes talked to Elle six weeks before her divorce and everything she said got pored over as hinting to her future split with Tom Cruise. A lesser-known magazine called C (California Style) talked to Katie just one day before she filed for divorce — and she shares more split hints in the mag's September 2012 issue.

“Going back over the tapes, there were signs," C senior editor Kelsey McKinnon told WWD (via Celebrity-Gossip). "Holmes was certainly very aware of herself, laying a couple cards on the table but never showing her whole hand. Most noticeably, the one name decisively absent from her lexicon: Tom Cruise. She never actually refers to him by name over pages and pages of transcription.”

Here are two other potentially telling quotes from the magazine’s interview:

• When asked if Suri made her closer to her soon-to-be-ex-husband:
"I don't know. I mean... I don't know. People have been having babies a long time."

• On her career and life outlook:
“I’m ready to take on some more challenging roles. I feel like I worked so much at such a young age that I really wanted to have life experiences. I feel more balanced and like I have more to bring to the table. I always felt like I wanted to catch up [in my personal life] to what I was doing [in my career].”

How much you wanna bet this magazine sees banner sales next month? The only thing better for them is if she had casually mentioned "Oh, Tom and I aren't together anymore. He doesn't know yet, but you do..."
