Katy Perry and Russell Brand, in an astonishing example of celebrities acting reasonable during a very public split, officially reached a divorce settlement on Wednesday.
As we previously reported, part of the reason the settlement went so smoothly is that Russell didn't ask for any of Katy's (huge) fortune, despite having a right to it (the couple didn't sign a prenup).
Yesterday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marc Marmaro signed the divorce judgment, as did Katy and Russell.
Although the exact terms of the settlement are private, we do know that Katy will officially switch back to her maiden name, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. Of course, given that everyone knows her by the stage name Katy Perry, we doubt this will have an impact on anyone but her.
Katy and Russel won't be legally divorced until July 14, because California law requires couples to wait six months after filing paperwork.
While we're sad to see the end of this marriage, we're happy (and amazed) that Katy and Russell have handled themselves so gracefully. There are more than a few Hollywood couples who could learn from them.
