Kyle Chandler can't lose!
The Friday Night Lights star — we'll always love you, Coach Taylor! — has just signed on to star in the Showtime drama pilot The Vatican, according to TVLine.
The high-profile project is being directed by movie director Ridley Scott and writen by Paul Attanasio of House.
The show is said to be a contemporary thriller about the modern-day political system within the Catholic church. Sounds mysterious.
Kyle will play Cardinal Thomas Duffy, an enigmatic archbishop whose progressive tendancies cause issues for others within the Church.
Also starring the show are Matthew Goode of The Watchmen and Sebastian Kock of A Good Day to Die Hard.
“Kyle Chandler is one of the most talented and sought-after actors working today," says the president of Showtime. No arguments here!
Kyle has had a huge 2012, starring in two Best Picture nominees: Argo and Zero Dark Thirty. He is also known for his roles in the film Super 8 and on Grey's Anatomy.
We're thinking that with a cast as impressive as this one, this show has more than a prayer of getting picked up.
