Jess, Zooey Deschanel's character on New Girl, is known for making up songs on the fly, but Zooey put her singing skills to a more classic use Sunday, October 23, 2011, when she took to the field to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" during game four of the World Series (that's baseball, for those who don't know sports).

Fusing her signature hipster style with patriotic zeal, Zooey wore a red sundress with blue and white embellishments for the event, and she kept her singing simple and to the point, eschewing vocal acrobatics in favor of letting the song speak for itself.
