Lizzy Caplan and Michael Sheen will star in the pilot of Masters of Sex.
Today's awesome TV news: Snarky indie actress Lizzy Caplan has landed a lead role alongside Michael Sheen in the pilot for Masters of Sex, a new drama in development for Showtime.
The show is yet another '60s period piece, this time focusing on the real life figures of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, a scientific team that pioneered research into human sexuality and the diagnosis and treatment of sexual dysfunctions. So, basically, Mad Men with more va-jay-jays. Sounds good to us!
Whether you know Lizzy as Janis Ian from Mean Girls, Amy Burley from True Blood's first season, Nick's new girlfriend Julia on New Girl, or, for the cult-comedy junkies, as struggling comedian Casey Klein on Starz's sadly short-lived Party Down, we're sure you're aware of one important fact: She's awesome, and definitely deserves to headline her own show.
Good pick, Showtime. We hope this pilot turns into a full-fledged show, since we're already kind of obsessed with it.
