Mayim Bialik and her 4-year-old son's unusual bond has come to an end.
The Big Bang Theory actress had raised eyebrows over the years for being an advocate for breastfeeding her no-longer-newborn son, Fred, but she writes in a post on Kveller that Fred is finally done nursing.
"He’s done," Mayim writes. "Fred weaned." She explains that he stopped breastfeeding about three months ago. His fourth birthday was in November 2012.
"All of you snarky mamas who glared at me nursing my three-and-a-half-year-old son on the NYC subway, prepare to be amazed," the 37-year-old mother to two sons writes about the news. "And to all of my family and friends who wanted to chastise me about nursing a walking, talking, thinking, laughing little man named Fred, thanks for holding your tongues."
Mayim explains that Fred night-weaned about a year ago, and since then he has been breastfeeding about once a day up until now.
She defends breastfeeding as "the best nutrition, nurturing and bonding ever."
"It was never wrong, and it was always right," she continues.
To quote the catchphrase from Mayim's hit '90s show Blossom: Whoa!
