Miley Cyrus' Biggest Heartbreak Was at Age 14 With "Perfect" Nick Jonas
Do you remember when you were 14 and love was *LOVE* and heartache was *HEARTACHE* and everything just naturally went to 11? That’s when Miley Cyrus fell in love with Nick Jonas of The Jonas Brothers.
The two started dating the day they met, Miley told Seventeen Magazine, adding, “for two years he was basically my 24/7.” When they split at the end of 2007, it felt like the end of the world.
Miley talked about her love-and-loss story Thursday night on The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet. One of the questions Amanda always asks her female guests is about advice they’d give their 14-year-old selves.
"I had my biggest heartbreak when I was 14,” Miley told Amanda (via the Huffington Post), “even though that sounds crazy because I was 14 — but it is. That was what love was to me. I was in love with somebody. I was in love with this person that I thought was perfect, and so amazing and so when you get your heart broken that's all you see: The rest of my life is ruined because he doesn't love me back. [...] He doesn't think I'm pretty, then I'm not pretty. He doesn't think I'm worth his time, I'm not worth anyone's time. That kind of thing.”
Which leads to her retroactive advice to 14-year-old Miley: “So I think just remember that’this too shall pass’ and it's not the end of the world ... You got to keep going. It's generic, but it's true. It's a big something to remember."
Now she’s not only dating actor Liam Hemsworth, the 19-year-old has found her own self-worth and doesn’t need a boyfriend’s validation to be happy. Sounds like someone’s growing up pretty well!
