Miley Cyrus shows her support for same-sex marriage by posing for the No H8 campaign.
From Disney star to gay rights activist?
Former teen queen Miley Cyrus is no stranger to controversy. From joking about being a stoner to supporting Occupy Wall Street, the singer/actress seems to be all about getting her liberal on. Most recently, Miley showed off her marriage equality tattoo and has published an essay in Glamour explaining why she’s behind the cause.
Miley’s essay tells critics that she’s still a Christian, and for her, it’s about love and equality. “We should all be tolerant of one another and embrace our differences,” writes the starlet. “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry.”
She goes on to reveal that her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, is also pro same-sex marriage. So much for southern stereotypes!
We’re impressed with Miley for standing up for an issue she’s passionate about. Who knows? Maybe someday she’ll run for president à la Roseanne Barr!
