Mindy McCready Mourns the Death of Her 34-Year-Old Boyfriend — Who Is Also Her Son's Father

Country singer Mindy McCready has lost the love of her life.

Songwriter David Wilson died on January 13 of undisclosed causes at the much-too-young age of 34, according to People. He and Mindy have been together for two years and have a nine-month-old son, Zayne.

"David was my soul mate," Mindy says in a statement. "He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father."

"David loved and was loved," she continues. "Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man." 

The couple had resided in Arkansas, which is where funeral service are likely to be held.

Mindy, who is 37, has sold over three million albums and is best known for her hit song, "Guys Do It All the Time," which reached number one in 1996.
